your authenticity is a gift to the world
and it’s your responsibility to be yourself in this lifetime. it’s all you’re here to do.
each one of us is a unique combination of our likes, talents, interests, history, experiences, biases, fears, limitations, perceptions, etc. all of these facets interact with each other and create a sort of template of who we are. when expressed with full authenticity and love, this template, perfect through nature’s design, delivers our unique medicine to the world. we all have something to contribute. we all have something positive to add. each and every single person in their full expression of loving authenticity makes the world more beautiful and closer to its full expression of self.
there’s a concept that each person contributes their own unique tone, their own personal brand of what this human experience can be, to a collective song. we each contribute our experience to the whole of everything- to all existence. all of the tones harmonize together in the fullness of creation expressing itself. it’s the essence of love, creation, oneness itself. it’s the way that life is designed to be. but we only create that beautiful symphony when we each sing our own unique pattern of notes. the harmonies will be “off”, dissonant, otherwise. everything was designed in perfect order. we need to each sing our unique song, which really just means we need to be ourselves.
there are many aspects of the world that discourage us from being ourselves. social pressure, expectations, rules, stereotypes, authoritarian systems and the like push us into boxes of conformity. we are afraid to be found out as different. we worry this will cause us to face rejection.
the grand illusion is that we each think we are the only one who is different and weird, when really- we all are in our own ways. we’ve been taught since grade school or earlier that to be different in one way or another is to suffer social consequences, and our tender child hearts learn to adapt in the hopes of securing vital human connection. we fall into patterns of over-surveillance, we mold our personalities into what we think they should be, minimize our hobbies, look to others to form opinions, do unfulfilling work. we conform and resultantly feel at odds with ourselves- unbalanced, out of sync- like something is out of place or missing but we can’t quite name it.
we may not have been taught that we’re it. we are what we are here for. to grow and develop into whoever we are and then deliver our unique medicine to the planet and each other. our full expression of self is what we are looking for. within the unexplored aspects of ourselves, through our unique points of view, we contain the answers to every problem we face. we have new creative ways of thinking within ourselves that can only come into being through our complete authenticity.
our educational systems are designed to promote conformity. we’ve internalized conformity on every level; it has been ingrained into our psyches since childhood. it takes considerable work to identify every area where we have formed habits around diminishing our authenticity and accepting the masks of society. it is an ongoing process to unravel all of the layers. it’s nonetheless an important task to undertake, because as long as we live inauthentically, we withhold our medicine from the world, from others, from Mother Nature. and look around! the world needs it. the people need it. Mother Nature needs it.
I’ve seen this concept floating around the internet that “we are the virus” to Mother Nature, referring to the way humans are polluting the planet (which is very much a serious and pressing issue). I disagree however that humanity is inherently a virus to the planet. our current ways of being are causing serious injury, yes. we over-consume and overproduce to soothe the discomfort of that internal imbalance I referred to earlier but these ways of being aren’t inherent to our nature. they are symptoms of our unnatural ways of being. we aren’t meant to be disconnected; we aren’t meant to spend our lives in a rat race. our nature is not to be swept away in a current of drama or trends. our nature is to create, to make things as beautiful and nice for ourselves and others as we can, simply through exploring whatever our heart calls us to. gratefully, this is a nature we are remembering and returning to more and more each day. we are designed to be loving stewards, partners in creation, and beloved children of the planet- extensions of her very self. we can change our ways, we can find a different way of being- both personally and collectively. stepping into who we truly are will heal us.
disconnection is our problem. disconnection from the true self through conformity (driven by fear, pain and internalized oppression) is the first level. then, when we are disconnected from ourselves, we are not able to have an authentic connection with anything else either.
we need to connect back to ourselves through self-awareness, compassion, forgiveness, dedication, faith and love. it is not a simple, easy or painless process but as we reconnect within, we begin to grow in the ability to connect to something beyond us. as we eschew trends & sponsored narratives, opinions of friends & family, imagined perceptions of strangers- we reconnect with nature. nature, expressed as our intuitive urges, leads us further on the path within ourselves and helps us to open up to our true authenticity. this can be a very mystical process, and the experience is specific to the individual. when we step into our authenticity, we begin to naturally share our medicine with the world in whatever way that looks like specific to our divine blueprint- who we truly are on the inside, free of conditioning and pain. that is how everything is transformed. it begins by connecting within again, in search for the authentic self.
authenticity is a magnet for miracles. when we begin to operate in total authenticity and integrity, we move in alignment. By being in alignment within, we come into alignment with the loving force of creation, the super-consciousness- the one that is spoken of by every major world religion and ancient indigenous systems of faith.
coming into complete acceptance and embrace of self allows one to radiate goodness into the universe, which in turn attracts goodness. when we operate in alignment, we open a channel between ourselves and the loving omnipotence of creation that some call God, or Source or the Universe or the Creator. then, through our authentic actions, creational power- what some may call grace- flows freely. it can flow freely because the channel is open and clear, due to the alignment. being out of alignment, or acting inauthentically, causes the channel to be “off kilter” or obstructed, allowing for less grace to flow through the individual.
grace- the creational power of God which we often feel as passion, inspiration, synchronicity and being “in the flow”- floods our lives when we truly know and love ourselves, and make choices that are in integrity. it lights us up from the inside, and this radiance is perceptible and enchanting to others. the people who are most idolized are often placed on pedestals for having visionary ideas, unique tastes and specific talents. however, we each have this je ne sais quois within us, as us and we can access those same degrees of magnetism simply by leveraging all that is within.
being ourselves is both our responsibility and our greatest gift. it is how we bring beauty to life, others and ourselves. it is how we glorify the Creator- how we give thanks for the less than 1 in a million shot of being alive. we use the time we have. we use it to do the things that bring us joy, to create the things we want to see the in the world. we use it to pursue our passions and see where they take us. we use it to develop the offering that eases the pain we see. we create beauty and life and new ways of doing things. we create new philosophies, religions, we discover creatures and landmasses and expand our worldview every day. we create and create and create- that’s what this is. when we remember this fact, it is so freeing and comforting. we are simply here to expand in whichever way we want to go, and together, it is beautiful. it is nature.
if you’re looking for a roadmap, I intend for these musings to accumulate into something like that. some first steps have already been outlined in musings #2 and #3. initially, the psyche needs rest from external stimulation and thoughts should be turned from reacting to external events, to focusing on internal thought processes. journaling and meditation are extremely useful, practical tools that can assist in turning the mind inward. I find that time spent in nature and certain physical activity, such as running or riding a bike also put me in a contemplative state. many revelations about myself have come to me on long walks around my neighborhood. start working with your intuition and allow it to make small decisions throughout your day. over time as you grow in trust, it will tell you more.
start exploring your interests. is there a hobby that you have always wanted to try? enroll in a course, start reading books about it. is there an old childhood passion that you could reincorporate into your life? maybe there’s a place that you have always wanted to visit, and now you have the ability to take yourself on a day trip. do it. buy the rollerblades, take the pottery class, plant the seeds. as you begin exploring your inner world, you’ll start meeting important aspects of yourself that will be central in the journey to healing and oneness, to being yourself. one of these will be your inner child, who holds the key to your life’s purpose- but we’ll speak more about that another day. for now, you have plenty to begin a journey to stepping into greater authenticity. humanity thanks you! together, fully embodied in authenticity, we can create a beautiful life experience on earth for all, and it begins from within.
always,
emily
